Hello to all Habitat volunteers, we will be starting our new building year soon. This year we will be building three homes all at once on Hallwood Place in Avondale. Due to permit problems, we probably won’t begin until early in June. However the build should go quickly once we begin. We will probably provide lunches three times during the summer . I would like to try something different this year. Instead of sandwiches, maybe we could dobarbecue, or lasagna. Other churches have done this and it has been very popular. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. More about that later. Saint Thomas is scheduled for six Saturdays if the build goes thru December. I doubt that it will take that long. Our scheduled dates are; June 22, August 3, September 7, October 12, November 16, and December 21. All of these are on Saturday. We also work on Wednesdays and you are welcome to come if you wish. So please check your calendars. I would hope to have 8 volunteers each workday from St Thomas. I will keep you informed as we get closer to the actual work date. As in past years, all volunteers will need to fill out the necessary forms only one time. These can be found in the website, along with maps and other useful information. Some of the regulations are: no one under the age of 14 allowed on site, ages 14 and 15 can help with landscaping and cleanup at the end of the build, ages 16 and 17 can help with construction but can use no power tools, do roof work, or work on scaffolding. ages 18 and up can join any work crew if approved by the construction site coordinator.
