If you’re praying and working to improve your community’s conditions, sign up for ECSF’s Leaven workshop NEXT SATURDAY July 28 at Procter Conference Center. Three Episcopalians who are catalyzing transformative ministry – the Revs. KJ Oh and Charlotte Reed and AJ Stack – will engage you in an adventure including spiritual discernment, finding and mobilizing talents, and building the community’s daring and ability to overcome poverty. These are the disciplines recommended by the diocese’s two main sources of grants for local congregations: ECSF and the Commission on Congregational Life. The day starts at 9:30 am and ends with an optional briefing at 3-4 pm on ECSF’s grant proposal instructions. You don’t have to be a grant applicant to come. Anyone in your congregation or community who is working to overcome human need is welcome. Go to www.ECSFsouthernohio.org and click on “Grantseekers Workshop” to read the details or sign up, or call ECSF at 513-221-0547. Reminder: requests for 2013 ECSF grants are due Sept. 15.

The St. Thomas Mountain T.O.P. Outreach Program is asking for your support of our two Youth Summer Ministry mission trips this summer. We are taking 50 youth and adults to the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee. This year will be St. Thomas’s 32nd year of participating in this Ministry. We are asking for logistical support (gas, groceries, and tools) for these trips by purchasing gift cards for the above items through St. Thomas’s scrip program. By buying gift cards for these needs, not only will you be helping the group, you will earn rebates that will go directly back to the St. Thomas Outreach program, and will get a credit for a charitable donation from St. Thomas.
The sign-up sheet and gift card order forms are on the bulletin board in the narthex. Please deposit your check and order form in the gift card order box also in the narthex. Please prayerfully consider making a donation of one or more of the listed cards.
Orders can be turned in during the May or June ordering period. Make checks payable to the church and indicate Mountain T.O.P. on the memo line.
Thank you for your support.
The 4th annual blood drive at St. Thomas will be in the Parish Hall on Wednesday, May 16th, from 1:00 to 7:00. We have an incredible opportunity to become partners with two great young adults (Janey Carman and Stacy Purcell) from our parish this summer as they deepen their Christian faith, improve their leadership capabilities, and impact others for Jesus as staff members at MT TOP.
MT TOP staff are required through partnerships to provide for their living costs ($1,000) and half the cost of their salaries (Ministry Coordinators-$2,200; Field Managers-$2,600) as a condition of their employment as MT TOP staff members.
Stacy Purcell will be a Ministry Coordinators and will need to raise $2,100. Janey Carman will be a second year Field Manager and will need to raise $2,300.
In addition to the financial partnerships discussed above, each of these individuals will need to develop emotional and prayer support partnerships that will be critical to their ministry this summer.
Would you consider joining in supporting Janey and Stacy as one of their partners?
Partnership Covenant Forms are available here. Please complete it indicating your support (spiritual, emotional, financial) and fill out whom you want to support(individually or both of them) and mail it to MT TOP at the address provided on the form.
Thank you for the difference you will make in many lives this summer.
