The primary focus of IPM is to provide food assistance to those in need in eastern Hamilton and western Clermont counties. In addition to a food pantry, IPM offers its clients counseling and information on other area resources, a nearly new store, emergency financial assistance, disaster relief, and referrals to social services.
In 2011, IPM served almost 16,000 people, including over 300 families in the first two weeks of December. Throughout the year, IPM sponsored 12 Mobile Pantries (with the help of the Freestore/Foodbank), afterschool and summer enrichment programs, distribution of backpacks and school supplies, winter coat distributions, access to nurses, a wonderful Christmas Toy Store, and food baskets for holiday meals. Sadly, the need has increased in our service area, and we are seeing a new face of hunger, people who have never before had to ask for help. IPM tries to serve these people and all our clients in ways that will maintain their dignity and self-respect in these very difficult times.
IPM needs volunteers to work in the food and clothing pantry, to organize and interact with clients at the mobile pantries, to work on the St Thomas Cookie Caper which gives so generously to IPM, to participate in its Stomp out Hunger 5k run in October and its Soup Bowl in April, to help at the Toy Store and food basket distribution, and many other special event activities.
You can help!
IPM always needs donations for its food shelves. Put your donations in the wagon at the back of the church or in the bins near the Parish Hall.
