Bishop Ken Untener, who was the RC Bishop of the Diocese of Saginaw and whose ministry probably helped to shape what I could offer the most while serving in that area myself from 2004—2010. Bishop Ken died in office shortly before I arrived in Saginaw, but his witness and ministry has been like a mentor to me with everything from preaching, to leadership and moist of all ecumenism – Ken believed in a Unified Church and he practiced that belief in his relations with everyone. Bishop Ken’s writings and example have left such an imprint and witness for me and so many others. His prayers, sermons and other writings first touched me as it reminds us of what it means to be called into sharing Christ’s ministry – it’s about whose we are, that to which we cling and are formed by even more than the accomplishments and even disappointments we experience alone –we are the messengers and heralds of news, Good News that is not our own, but what God is bringing about.
There are other materials available for this lent for different ages and interests as well as special activity boxes for families.
